June is turning out to be a great month indeed as BLINKS can finally breathe a sigh of relief while also brimming with excitement. After waiting for more than a year for BLACKPINK's comeback, YG Entertainment revealed the news that the Korean girl group was preparing for the release of their first official album, to be dropped in September 2020. Moreover, the album release is the final installment of an elaborate three-part comeback by the beloved four members - Lisa, Jennie, Rosé and Jisoo.
Now, for some more good news. The pre-release single, which is the first installment of the three-part comeback, will be dropping on June 26, 2020. In an earlier statement regarding the pre-release single, YG had shared, "BLACKPINK's first beginning in 2020 will be releasing the pre-release title in June. The group is currently almost done in preparing for visual shooting and choreography practice." This means that a music video will be accompanying and we can't keep calm!
The second installment of BLACKPINK's three-part comeback will see another single released in either July or August, which will be in a special format.
BLACKPINK Is Doing a Livestream Event Ahead of 'The Album' Release
After sharing the news of the livestream event, the group gave Blinks "concept teaser videos" of Lisa, Rose, Jennie and Jisoo on social media to hype The Album. Each of the girls are featured in their own clips, walking through what appears to be an empty parking structure, with no dialogue and the same brief clip of music at the end.
BLACKPINK has had a busy year so far. In addition to setting historic milestones, the K-pop supergroup collaborated with Lady Gaga on the superstar's "Sour Candy" from her latest album, and teamed up with Selena Gomez for The Album's second single, "Ice Cream," which debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. On top of all that, Netflix has announced that a documentary about the South Korean group titled BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky is dropping Oct. 14.

Everything We Know About Blackpink's Highly-Anticipated Comeback Single
The comeback track is titled "How You Like That," as YG Entertainment announced on Monday (June 15). Check out the promo posters and two concept teaser videos starring Jennie and Rosé below:
The release date
The track will drop June 26, as YG Entertainment first announced on June 9. The untitled single ends Blackpink's one-year musical hiatus since 2019's Kill This Love EP, which reached No. 24 on the Billboard 200.
"How You Like That" was written by Teddy and Danny Chung, and produced by Teddy, R.Tee and 24. It was also arranged by 24 and R.Tee, as the official credit posted revealed on Sunday (June 21).
The music video is going to be epic
A video teaser uploaded on Tuesday (Junes 12) shows Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa looking totally fierce in between shots of a dramatically-lit hall full of flaming torches. Watch below:
It's the start of something big
Sounds like everything's going according to the release plan YG Entertainment publicized to fans last month, which stated the pre-release title track will come out in June. Blinks can then expect a second new song from members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa either in July or August. The song also serves as the lead single for the quartet's first-ever full studio album, due in September.
To hold fans over until then, the women delivered the super sweet "Sour Candy" treat off Lady Gaga's No. 1 album Chromatica at the end of May, which danced all the way to No. 3 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart this week (dated June 13).

BLACKPINK Confirmed Cardi B Is Featured on Their New Album—Here Are All the Deets
BP 2020 is coming. BLACKPINK’s management company, YG Entertainment, confirmed that the girl group’s new album is complete and will be ready for our ears very soon. So what do we know about BLACKPINK’s album 2020 release date, tracklist and news? Well, here’s the tea that YG Entertainment spilled the tea about Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé’s upcoming music. Needless to say, we can’t wait.
A version of this story was originally published in May 2020.
When is BLACKPINK’s album 2020 release date?
YG Entertainment confirmed on July 27 that BLACKPINK’s album 2020, titled The Album, will be released on October 2, 2020. The band also released two singles before the album. The first single was “How You Like That” in June. The second single was a collab, titled “Ice Cream,” with Selena Gomez in August. After weeks of rumors, Gomez confirmed her collaboration with BLACKPINK on her Instagram in August. “So SO excited to announce @BlackPinkOfficial and I have a new song coming out August 28th!” she wrote at the time.
Along with The Album, YG Entertainment also launched an Amazon shop of BLACKPINK merch themed around The Album, “How You Like That” and “Ice Cream.” Some of our favorites include the “Ice Cream” key chain (with a fake ice cream cone), the BLACKPINK monopoly set and the “How You Like That” T-shirt with a cool drippy BLACKPINK heart.

YG also described the comeback as a “three-step, multi-phased release” in July. “BLACKPINK’s first new song, which will be released in mid-June, is a pre-release title track. The BLACKPINK members are currently preparing to film the music video for the song, and they are picking up the pace of their final preparations, including practicing their new choreography,” YG Entertainment said in a statement in May 2020. “The second new song, which is a special kind of a new song, is scheduled for a release in July or August. As it’s a first studio album that [BLACKPINK] has been preparing for a long time, we hope to create more opportunities for the group to greet fans through performances and other content than in any year before through a three-step, multi-phased release.”
On June 26, BLACKPINK released their comeback single, “How You Like That.” After BLACKPINK’s album 2020 release in October, Rosé, Lisa and Jisoo also plan to release solo tracks following Jennie’s “Solo” in 2018. “YG has recently informed the fans regarding BLACKPINK’s upcoming comeback and official album release in June and September. After monitoring many responses made by fans in and out of Korea, it seemed that many of you were curious on the solo release plans by individual members, so we decided to inform you on how they are being prepared,” YG Entertainment tweeted in June. “YG has released Jennie’s first-ever solo single SOLO back in November 2018, and has been working on Rosé’s first-ever solo track for over a year. We ask for your understanding on taking more time than expected, since we were planning to release multiple songs in an album format, rather than releasing a digital single. Rosé’s solo works have already been completed, and its release date is planned to be in September after the release of BLACKPINK’s first-ever full-length album. It is because all the members agreed that BLACKPINK’s comeback as an entire group and their first-ever full-length album release is more important than anything. Furthermore, Lisa’s amazing solo single is already prepared for release, and we are currently preparing for Jisoo’s solo single release as well.”

The statement continued, “The solo releases by the members will continue in sequential order, after the release of BLACKPINK’s first-ever full-length album release upcoming [sic] in September. YG is always grateful towards the fans in and out of Korea, who have shown interest and affections towards BLACKPINK until this day. We are also always monitoring your opinions which may sound trivial, but are in fact very helpful. YG will not stop the support and effort to help BLACKPINK create better music and to help them grow as admirable artists. That is because it’s the first and most important thing we should consider to repay your love and support towards BLACKPINK. Today is June 1st. Please continue to encourage and support the members of BLACKPINK, who are continuing to work hard for the final preparation process for their upcoming comeback this month. Thank you.”
What is BLACKPINK’s album 2020‘s track list?
BLACKPINK announced the tracklist for The Album in September 2020. See below for the track list. Highlights include “Bet You Wanna” (which features Cardi B) and “Lovesick Girls” (which was co-written by Jennie and Jisoo.) “And the song is amazing 😉,” Cardi tweeted after the track list was announced. “Bardipink in your area👀👀👀👀”
- “How You Like That”
- “Ice Cream” (Feat. Selena Gomez)
- “Pretty Savage”
- “Bet You Wanna” (Feat. Cardi B)
- “Lovesick Girls”
- “Crazy Over You”
- “Love to Hate Me”
- “You Never Know”
Before the track list for BLACKPINK’s album 2020 was announced, YG Entertainment confirmed in May 2020 that the LP would consist of 10 tracks (including “How You Like That” and “Ice Cream,” a collab with Selena Gomez), which the band had already recorded. As fans know, the track list was cut down to eight songs. The third single from The Album is titled “Lovesick Girls,” which was co-written by Jennie and Jisoo. The single was announced a week before the release of The Album. “As it’s a first studio album that [BLACKPINK] has been preparing for a long time, we hope to create more opportunities for the group to greet fans through performances and other content than in any year before through a three-step, multi-phased release,” YG Entertainment said in a statement.

What is BLACKPINK album 2020‘s title and cover?
YG Entertainment announced on July 27 that BLACKPINK’s album 2020 will be titled The Album, which references how the upcoming LP will be the band’s first full-length album. The cover for the album includes a crown with a glimmering jewel in the center
BLACKPINK’s most recent EP, Kill This Love, which was released in April 2019, featured a pink shield-like symbol.

It’s Time, BLINKS—BLACKPINK’s Comeback Is Sooner Than You Think
Get out those lightsticks, BLINKs. Because BLACKPINK’s comeback 2020 date is a month away. YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s management company, told STARNEWS on Monday, May 4, that Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé are set to release their next single—drumroll, please—in June. As noted in their statement, YG Entertainment hasn’t finalized an exact date for BLACKPINK’s comeback yet, but new music from the girl group could come as early as June 1.
“BLACKPINK is scheduled to make a June comeback. Once the exact date has been finalized, we will officially share the news with fans first. Thank you,” YG Entertainment said in a statement to STARNEWS.
The site also reported that has finished filming their new album and are set to film their music video in May. (How that will work due to the global health crisis, we’re not sure, but we expect the BLACKPINK ladies to be creative.) STARNEWS also wrote that the band’s comeback is expected in early to mid-June, so we’re about a month away from new BLACKPINK music.

It’s been more than a year since BLACKPINK’s most recent album, Kill This Love, which was released in April 2019. The five-track EP included fan-favorite songs like “Don’t Know What to Do” and a remix of “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du.”
While fans have been patiently awaiting a comeback, it’s not too surprising that BLACKPINK has music in the works. One of the members, Jennie, has been teasing a comeback for the past few months with photos of her in a recording studio. BLACKPINK also has a song, “Sour Candy,” on Lady Gaga’s sixth album, Chromatica, which is set to be released in the coming months. The album was supposed to drop in April, but due to the current health crisis, Gaga pushed it to an indefinite date.
BLACKPINK’s comeback in June is just what we need in these dark times.
