Be Smart, Check in Advance. CARFAX — Your Vehicle History.

CARFAX — Your Vehicle History Expert

Sometimes what you don't know can't hurt you, but that's not the case when buying a used car. As an independent vehicle history provider, at CARFAX we've made it our mission to tell you everything you need to know by uncovering as many events as possible from the previous life of a used car. Our primary goal is to help you get to know your next car from the inside out before deciding to make an investment that will be part of you and your family's everyday life. We believe your next car shouldn't be hiding anything from you.

CARFAX Vehicle History Reports contain over 28 billion historical records from 20 European countries, the US and Canada, which are updated daily with new information.

Even if you live in a country we don't collect vehicle data from, it's still always worth checking the Vehicle Identification Number without obligation. The used car import and export market is booming and many owners would be surprised to find out exactly what happened to their vehicle during its previous life abroad.

Privacy for Customers — Transparency over Vehicles

Let's be clear: Although we strive to find every detail of a vehicle's life so far, we are focused only on the vehicle's history, and do not collect any information on previous owners. The information we provide relates solely to the vehicle, its odometer reading, any accidents that have been covered up, where the vehicle comes from and much more — it never gets personal. We've uncovered irreparable damage several times in the past, but other times our vehicle history checks draw a blank — and sometimes that's actually a good thing.

Second Hand — Not Second Best

Did you know that considerably more used cars are sold than new cars? We think this second-hand system is nothing short of fantastic. However, it goes without saying that it gives rise to different methods and tactics: Some sellers will disguise a car that's been in an accident under a fresh coat of paint, tamper with the odometer or conceal theft. This is one of the less appealing aspects of buying second hand. Our goal is to establish trusting relationships between buyers and sellers, since this is the best way to help customers make the right decision. Your new car should be reliable and make you feel safe, as well as make you feel like you haven't paid too much.

But more than anything else, we don't want you or your family unknowingly sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle that isn't 100% safe. This is why we strive to take these vehicles off the road, which not only makes the used car market safer but our streets safer too.

CARFAX — 35+ Years of Experience in Vehicle Histories

CARFAX was founded in the US in 1984 and expanded into Europe in 2007. Around 100 team members spread across six European offices process vehicle information from 22 countries.

Fostering strategic partnerships with registration authorities, law enforcement agencies, government departments, insurance companies, inspection centers and numerous other leading companies around the world has enabled us to compile a unique international database for vehicle histories. We use this database to help make the used car market more transparent. We give everyone in the process of buying a used car access to what is currently the world's most comprehensive source for vehicle history reports, and is growing day by day.

We remain neutral and independent despite our partnerships — our sole purpose is help customers make an informed choice and ensure their safety and the safety of their family. This includes never collecting any personal details — we do not accept any PII from data sources amongst the information we provide about a vehicle. We ensure that data protection laws are observed at all times. Furthermore, we always collect our data in compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks — in all the countries in which we are active. We expressly distance ourselves from illegal activities such as data theft, scraping and hacking.

Overview[edit]

The first-generation NX was revealed at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition on 20 April 2014.[8] The NX shares a small portion of parts with the Toyota RAV4 primarily related to the structure and wheelbase, while the styling, suspension parts, some engines, interior, and level of luxury and craftsmanship are unique to the Lexus.[9] The NX variants sold in the United States feature slightly altered fascias, which facilitate higher departure angles, allowing it to be identified by the US EPA as an "off-road vehicle".[10][11] US sales began in November 2014.[12] Production commenced on 8 August 2014 at Toyota Motor Kyushu's Miyata plant.[13]

Powertrains[edit]

The first-generation NX is available in three powertrains; which are designated NX 200t/300, NX 300h, and NX 200.

The NX 200t/300 is powered by a 2.0-liter 8AR-FTSturbochargedfour-cylinderdirect injection engine that can run on both Otto and Atkinson cycles. This engine has Lexus’ Economy with Superior Thermal Efficient Combustion (ESTEC) direct injection 4-stroke with turbo (D-4ST) fuel injection. With separate twin injectors for both direct and port injection, ESTEC D-4ST could perform high-pressure direct injection into the cylinder and conventional intake port injection, or direct cylinder injection only, according to engine speed. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, this engine produces 175 kW (235 hp; 238 PS) at 4,800–5,600 rpm and 350 N⋅m (258 lb⋅ft) at 1,650–4,000 rpm.

The NX 300h is powered by a 2.5-liter 2AR-FXE engine mated to an electric motor and CVT that puts out a combined power output of 145 kW (194 hp; 197 PS).

In addition, the NX 200 with a 2.0-liter 3ZR-FAE naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 110 kW (148 hp; 150 PS) is available in the Russian market.[7]

The second-generation NX was revealed on 11 June 2021. Four trims were introduced, consisting of two gasoline trims and two hybrid trims – the NX 250, NX 350, NX 350h and NX 450h+. Most of the powertrains are shared with the XA50 series Toyota RAV4. The 2.4-liter T24A-FTS turbocharged four-cylinder engine was introduced for the NX 350, producing 205 kW (275 hp; 279 PS) and 430 N⋅m (317 lb⋅ft) of torque. The NX 450h+ was also introduced as the first plug-in hybrid vehicle in Lexus' lineup and shares the same powertrain as the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid.[16]

Sales[edit]

In its first full year of sales the NX sold over 43,000 units in the US. It was also successful in Europe where it sold over 28,000 in its first full year of sales, of which more than 17,000 were hybrids. This made it Lexus's best selling model in Europe.[17] Its success was also strong in Russia, where in its first full year of sales it was the best selling luxury vehicle.[18]

Lexus NX200t Expert Review

Megan Stewart

New for 2017

The 2017 Lexus NX 200t offers optional 18-inch wheels, two new exterior colors for F Sport models, and Scout GPS Link has been added to Lexus Display Audio. Lexus has also discontinued the front-wheel drive NX 200t for 2017.

Vehicle Summary

The 2017 Lexus NX 200t is a compact luxury SUV offered with all-wheel drive and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. A hybrid version is available in the form of the NX 300h model. Interested in the 2018 model? Learn more here.

Overview

The Lexus NX was new for 2015 and, since its debut, has received only minor changes. Power still comes in the form of a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine that delivers 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Fuel economy is rated at an EPA-estimated 22/27-28 mpg city/highway for the 2016 model year; 2017 ratings haven't yet been released.

While the aggressive exterior may be polarizing to some, the luxurious interior helps draw in more buyers. The infotainment system is controlled with a touchpad instead of the mouse-like control that many other Lexus models feature. When equipped with the Luxury package, the 2017 NX 200t adds a perforated leather-trimmed interior, Linear Black Shadow wood trim, a leather-trimmed heated steering wheel and leather-trimmed shift knob, and a power liftgate.

Safety

The 2017 Lexus NX 200t has earned a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA, and although the 2017 model hasn't been tested, the NX earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ for the 2016 model. Standard safety features include Lexus Enform Safety Connect, rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, whiplash-injury-lessening front seatbacks, rigid body structure with crumple zones, ABS, brake assist, LED foglights and taillights, hill-start assist control, LED cornering foglights, vehicle proximity notification, and front, front knee, side, and curtain airbags.

Optional features include intelligent high-beam headlamps, intuitive parking assist, lane departure warning, dynamic radar cruise control, Pre-Collision system, rain-sensing wipers with mist cycle, blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert, and premium triple-beam LED headlights.

What We Think

In a recent Motor Trend Big Test comparison against other luxury compact crossovers, the Lexus NX 200t F Sport took the title, thanks to its well-rounded package. We said that its engine sounds great with the throttle wide open, especially when in Sport mode. It offers a good cost of ownership, great interior, and strong driving dynamics.

Even though the NX 200t may be based off the Toyota Rav4, its ride quality sets it apart from its sibling and much of its competition. In a First Drive review, we said the steering was properly weighted and lively, gripping the road in fast turns, with a brake feel that inspires confidence. With the automaker's reputation for reliability, the sharp exterior and luxurious interior styling, and level of technology, the NX will likely continue to be a success for the next few years.

Cool Fact

Despite being based off the Toyota Rav4, the Lexus NX 200t only shares about 10 percent of its parts, including the wheelbase, suspension points, and holes in the unibody for speakers.
