not only is the average wildfire season three and a half months longer than it was a few decades back, but the number of annual large fires in the west has tripled ‚ÄĒ burning twice as many acres.

severe heat and drought fuel wildfires, conditions scientists have linked to climate change. if we don’t break the warming cycle, we expect more and worse wildfires in the years ahead.

what’s causing this devastating cycle?

although human activities ‚ÄĒ such as lighting campfires and discarding lit cigarettes ‚ÄĒ are mainly responsible for starting the fires, hotter weather makes forests drier and more susceptible to burning.

rising temperatures, a key indicator of climate change, evaporate more moisture from the ground, drying out the soil, and making vegetation more flammable.

at the same time, winter snowpacks are melting about a month earlier, meaning that the forests are drier for longer periods of time.

meanwhile, shifting meteorological patterns can drive rain away from wildfire-prone regions, a phenomenon scientists discovered in california and have linked to human-made climate change.

as drought and heat continue with rising greenhouse gas emissions, we expect more wildfires in years ahead, especially with the fire seasons getting longer.

we have the power to break the cycle and get on track toward a more sustainable future.

we can keep spending an ever-rising amount of money to address devastating fires and other weather disasters that climate change makes worse ‚ÄĒ or we can work together to slow and eventually stop the greenhouse gas emissions warming our planet.

Hisoka Vs Kastro Full Fight - Hunter x Hunter (English Sub)

14 Things You Might Not Know About Hunter x Hunter's Hisoka

Yoshihiro Togashi'sHunter x Hunter is a playground featuring many odd characters, but no one is more bizarre than Hisoka Morow. In fact, he's such a puzzling being that no one knows how his last name is actually spelled. Is it Morow, Morrow, Morou, or Moro? We can't give you a surefire answer, but the ambiguity certainly correlates with the magician's personality.

RELATED: 7 Most Powerful Isekai Heroes (& 8 Weakest)

Between his ridiculous bloodlust and his questionable moments of "arousal," most viewers might find themselves too distraught by the jester to explore beyond what they see on screen.

Updated on Oct. 11th, 2021 by Claris Lam:: Hisoka is a bag of mystery and one of the most intriguing characters in Hunter x Hunter, with his incredible character depth ensuring that fans can never know enough about him. With that in mind, this list has been expanded with a few more facts about the magician.

14 Hisoka Is An Antagonist But Not Entirely Evil

Being one of the main antagonists of the overall story, Hisoka is often considered to be evil by many viewers. Undoubtedly, he's killed people who he considered to be unworthy of his time and attention. Yet, Hisoka never harms others for fun.

If someone stands in his way, he'll act accordingly and get rid of them quickly. Only those who he considers worthy of being crushed face that fate at his hands, such as the protagonist Gon. Simply put, Hisoka is an amoral character.

13 Hisoka's Hair Color Is Inconsistent In The Anime

Hunter x Hunter's 1999 version is different from the 2011 version in many ways. Just like all other characters, there are quite a lot of differences in Hisoka's appearance, including his hair. For instance, the 1999 version of the anime showed Hisoka's hair to be blue throughout the series.

RELATED: Hunter X Hunter: 5 Ways Enhancement Is The Best Nen Type (& 5 Why It's Transmutation)

In contrast, the 2011 anime depicted his hair to be red at some times and magenta at others. Just like his hair, his eye color also carried similar inconsistencies across the two versions, since his eyes were blue in the 1999 version and yellow in the 2011 version.

12 Hisoka Has Used Nearly All The Nen Types

Hisoka's primary Nen type is Transmutation and this power is regularly seem whenever he uses his aura for abilities such as Bungee Gum. Interestingly, on top of Transmutation, Hisoka can also use other types of Nen, such as Conjuration, that he uses in Texture Surprise.

Aside from these two types, Hisoka also demonstrated decent skill with Enhancement, Emission, and Manipulation Nen, which just goes to show how incredibly balanced he is a fighter.

11 He's Rivaled Only By Killua (In Terms Of Clothing)

Hisoka is a man of many talents, but he also has many different outfits. Observant fans have been aware of this for years, but casual or new viewers might not realize that the magician modifies his appearance at the beginning of each story arc. While his overall look remained consistent, the colors are often altered and an accessory or two would be added. Hisoka also lets his hair down occasionally, such as during the Greed Island arc.

RELATED: Hunter X Hunter: 5 Anime Characters Killua Zoldyck Could Defeat (& 5 He'd Lose To)

The only character that challenges Hisoka in this category is Killua Zoldyck. The young assassin changed his look so often that he has become somewhat of a meme as a result. Who said all anime characters were limited to one outfit?

10 The Reason Pariston Hill's Japanese Voice Sounds Familiar

Hisoka and Pariston Hill have one thing in common, though it has nothing to do with the Hunter x Hunter storyline itself. Hiroki Takahashi, the clown's voice actor from the 1999 series, doubled as the voice behind Pariston Hill in the 2011 adaptation.

It's worth noting that Takahashi is also a singer, meaning that a quick Google search can lead interested listeners to music performed by Hisoka's 1999-version voice actor.

9 His Interest In Machi Is More Blatant In The Manga

In the anime, Hisoka asked Phantom Troupe member Machi to have dinner with him after his fight with Kastro. It came out of the left field for many viewers and made them wonder who this woman was and why the magician was seemingly so fond of her.

As it turns out, the HxH manga painted a slightly different scenario that was ultimately rewritten for television. In print, Hisoka had actually asked Machi to spend the night with him, entirely skipping the invitation to wine and dine.

8 His Birthday Insinuates That He's The Fifth Protagonist

This is more of a fan theory than a confirmed fact, but it's impossible to disregard the numbers as mere coincidence. The four protagonists seen above all share a curious detail regarding their birthdays. Leorio was born on March 3 (3/3), Kurapika's birthday is on April 4 (4/4), Gon's falls on May 5 (5/5), and Killua's date of birth is July 7 (7/7).

RELATED: Hunter x Hunter: Gon's 10 Closest Friends, Ranked

The numerically repetitive dates ascend from three to seven with a glaring gap between Gon and Killua. However, Hisoka was born on June 6 (6/6), thus completing the sequence. Because of this, astute fans have decided that the jester is the unofficial fifth protagonist of the series.

7 Hisoka's Naming Of His Nen Comes From Gum

During one of his cameo appearances in the 1999 version of the anime, Togashi stated that Hisoka enjoyed "Bungee Gum" as a child, but since his family was poor, he would always chew it until the flavor was gone. He then named his signature move after the gum.

This differs slightly from what fans were told in both the manga and the 2011 adaptation where Hisoka simply named Bungee Gum and Texture Surprise after his favorite brands of gum and candy, respectively. Whether Hisoka's family was poor or not remains up for debate, but it is likely that viewers and fans alike will never receive a definitive answer from Togashi.

6 His Nen Ability Gives A Hint About His Personality

Hisoka's main Nen ability, known as Bungee Gum, is also called Elastic Love. This naming is thought to be a reference to his personality as, just like gum‚ÄĒ which can easily stick to something and yet be pulled apart‚ÄĒ Hisoka's attachment to someone can come out of nowhere yet end in an instant.

RELATED: Hunter X Hunter: 10 Most Intelligent Villains, Ranked

His initial interest in Kastro is prime example of this as, initially, Hisoka assumed that he has tremendous potential but unfortunately, he failed to live up to it, which ended Hisoka's interest in him.

5 Hisoka's Hunter Exam¬†Introduction¬†Was Edited ‚ÄĒ Twice

The 2011 Hunter x Hunter anime features an intriguing scenario involving Hisoka and an unnamed character. It takes place in the midst of the First Phase of the Hunter Exam. When the camera focuses on the pair, we witness the wannabe Hunter's arms disintegrate into flower petals. He had bumped into Hisoka without apologizing, thus triggering the unfortunate altercation.

This encounter didn't happen at all in the 1999 adaptation. Instead, the magician had cornered the examinee against a wall but eventually let him be. The original outcome, depicted in the manga, was leaps and bounds more violent: The clown had retaliated by mercilessly severing the man's arms.

4 He's Not The Only Clown In Togashi's Arsenal

Yoshihiro Togashi is the creator of both Yu Yu Hakushoand Hunter x Hunter, so it makes sense that there are some parallels between the two. For example, Hakusho's Suzuki occasionally took the form of a clown with both a small teardrop and a heart painted on his face.

RELATED: 10 Creepy Anime Clowns Who Give Us Nightmares

Physical attributes aside, Suzuki also profited from having noteworthy card-throwing skills. This reminded viewers of their favorite morally ambiguous clown in HxH. Whether these two characters were influenced by The Joker (another fan theory) or not is yet to be confirmed.

3 Hisoka's Most Popular Voice Actor Appears In Every Other Anime You Love

Daisuke Namikawa, Hisoka's most prominent voice actor, is also the voice behind another Togashi creation: Prince Baka from Level E. However, the iconic actor has appeared in just about every other top-tier franchise or anime you could possibly think of.

Namikawa's impressive resume also included popular anime such as Naruto, Boruto, Bleach, One Piece, Demon Slayer, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. He even voiced Sekiro from 2019's award-winning video game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Many fans are bound to hear 2011 Hisoka's voice actor no matter what you watch or play, as long as it is subbed.

2 The Recurrence Of The Number 4 Is Symbolic

Hisoka's Hunter Exam number badge bore the number 44. He also joined the Phantom Troupe after defeating Omokage, which automatically made the magician member #4 in the crew. If Japanese superstitions are to be taken into consideration, this might not be a minor coincidence.

RELATED: Hunter X Hunter: 10 Things Gon Can Do Without His Nen

In Japan, the number 4 has been deemed unlucky because the word for "four" is remarkably similar to the word for "death" in their language. Killing is one of Hisoka's specialties, so the number association is very fitting.

1 Hisoka's Past Was Written By Tokyo Ghoul's Creator

Hisoka's Past is a Hunter x Hunter prequel that focused on the infamous magician and his life before the events of Togashi's series. One notable and fascinating aspect is that this one-shot was written and illustrated by none other than Sui Ishida, Tokyo Ghoul's creator.

Hisoka's Past was initially posted as an April Fools' prank posted on Twitter. However, the project ended up being formally published later on. While it's not exactly canon, Togashi admitted that he was a fan of Ishida's vision and mentioned that he would like to connect it to his own story someday. However, that's not likely to happen any time soon thanks toHxH's everlasting hiatus dilemma.

"What are you doing here?"

Illumi's knuckles are white as he grips the edge of the door, his feet rooted on the spot.

"I came to find you."

The red-haired magician is standing before him, his wide shoulders taking up too much space in the doorway. Illumi tries to shut the door but it won't budge.

"Go away."

"My love is not a game, Hisoka."

"Let me in."

"I said /leave/."

It takes a lot for Illumi to spit out the last word. It comes as a choke; a croak. How dare he stand there, shamelessly, how dare he beg to be let in. How many nights had Illumi gone to bed with eyes stained in the painful hue of his former lover's vicious mane.

How many times had Illumi raked the skin of his forearms until hangnails wedged in the crevices of paled flesh. How many times had he screamed into his pillow until his lungs deflated, burst like balloons with pins. Pins. Needles. Hisoka. Pain.

There was nothing.

"You're the only one I love."

Illumi wants to die.

"Liar. You're a liar."

His voice is no longer his. Whose is it? The slight quiver, barely audible, the petulant comeback. It is foreign; it is not him.

"Look at me, Illumi."

Hisoka pushes his way in and Illumi is powerless to stop him. The magician takes Illumi's face in his unnaturally gentle hands. This is wrong. It feels so wrong; Illumi had convinced himself that these are not the hands befitting of a scoundrel.

Hisoka's hands were coarse and full of trickery; they bore leather-woven lies. He donned knuckledusters and dealt the cold, calculated blows of a trained killer to the heart.

He struck where it hurt most.

And Illumi had let him in. It was all his own fault. And now, as Hisoka cups his face with warm hands, Illumi begins to cry. He's doing it again, letting him in. Illumi pushes against him, but Hisoka's hands remain firm and insistent, guiding his chin upwards and suddenly,

Illumi is once again staring into strikingly familiar honey golden eyes. He knows them better than he'd like. Looking into them now dredges up memories from their murky depths, tainted with tears and screams. He shudders involuntarily.

/Hold it together/

"Look at me."

Illumi feels the sudden urge to throw up.

Tears stream silently down his cheeks. He no longer cries with sound.

"I would never hurt you."

"You did."

"I'm sorry."

There is no emotion in the magician's voice. It's almost laughable. What kind of apology is that? Not one that Illumi needed nor cared for.

/You're not/

"Leave now."

"Illumi, listen to me--"

"I won't say it again. Leave."

The skin around Illumi's knuckles tighten around the cruelly gentle hands that hold his face.

"I was doing fine without you," He whispers. "I was healing."

For the first time since stepping over the threshold, Hisoka's face softens.

His expression is a clear mixture of sympathy and sadness. Illumi is not buying it for one second.

"No, you're still hurting." The magician murmurs softly, tucking a strand of hair behind Illumi's ear and sighing sadly.

Illumi is cynical enough to admit that Hisoka's acting has indeed improved by leaps and bounds. The deception is almost impressive, flawless, even. But he knows what to watch for, now. He knows the tells. He is not falling; not this time.

"Stop talking like you know anything about me."

He spits the words into the magician's face, and relishes in the flecks of saliva landing on his powdered nose. Such behaviour is usually considered uncouth, but Illumi will make an allowance for tonight. Hisoka doesn't flinch.

"Oh, but I do, Illumi.

I know your worst fears, your deepest secrets, your darkest traumas. I was there. I helped you."

"You hurt me." Illumi throws the accusation like a wounded child.

"A necessary evil."

Though he knew it was coming, the pain of Hisoka's admission to his manipulation was no easier to swallow.

"Of course, I had to break you down, to build you back up." There it is again, the cruel smirk. Hisoka has dropped his pretense now and Illumi sees the truth, clear as day.

// non-con , kissing

"Did you get what you wanted? Did you have your fun? When will you stop treating me like a game, a prize to be won? I've had enou--"

Lips. His lips. They are softer than he'd remembered, but harder too. What? No. They're sweet, impossibly so.

The signature cherry chapstick so disgustingly artificial, Illumi nearly gags. Hisoka takes the opportunity to force his tongue in, just like he forces his way into everything, without care nor concern.

He takes what he wants, then leaves a trail of broken things, scattered shards, and empty people. Hands begin roaming his body, caressing, and groping. It could only be pleasant for him.

Illumi doesn't want this. He pushes against Hisoka's chest, furious at this unwelcome intrusion, into his home, into his life, into his lips. Hisoka, as always, ignores him.

When he finally relinquishes Illumi's lips, it is only when Hisoka is satisfied.

But still, he holds onto his body, an arrogant predator, possessive of its wounded prey.

"Oh, how I've missed that."

There is not a hint of regret or shame in his voice. Illumi feels hollow now.

It had taken a long time for him to patch the gaping hole in his chest when Hisoka had left the first time, but now the kiss had sucked the air from his lungs and gouged raw flesh from his insides.

But he will not give Hisoka the pleasure of watching him crumble. Not again.

"Why did you come here."

Hisoka shrugs.

"I wanted to see if you still loved me."

Even the statement itself is so bizarre, that it shakes Illumi out of his muddled daze. Love? Did Hisoka really think, Illumi could still /love/ him after all that he'd done?

"You're out of your mind."

Hisoka laughs. It resembles a hyena's, shrill and mocking.

"Sure, darling. But I got what I came for."

Hisoka releases him and turns to leave. Illumi can only look down at his hands, his mind still reeling.

"Thanks, love. I'll be seeing you again soon."

Hisoka steps over the threshold, and is gone without a second glance, or another word, the door closing with a final, ominous click.

Illumi sinks down to his knees and cries. But no tears come.

He feels nothing, nothing but the ghosts of unwelcome hands on his body and a choking tongue in his throat.

Illumi prays desperately that the nightmares don't find him when he sleeps tonight, if at all. He is not hopeful that this will be the case.

He hugs his knees towards his chest and cries a mute man's tears without wetness, the ugly taste of red still lingering on his tongue.

We land on a tower where there was nothing on it

Y/n: Why the fuck did we stop here...

Beans clear his throat to get everyone's attention.

Beans: Everyone, this is the site of the Hunter Exam's Third Phase...you'll be competing here at the top of the Trick Tower

Man: Did you say Trick Tower?

Y/n: Are you deaf? Of course, he said Trick Tower...

Hisoka: No need to be rude, Y/n-Chan~

Y/n: Shut up!

Beans: In order to pass this Phase, you must reach the base of the tower alive...the time limit is 72 hours, and with that, the Exam's Third Phase will now begin

I turn around and seen Gon and the Others.

Beans: Good luck to each one of you!

Y/n: Good luck, guys, be careful

Killua: We will!

Y/n: Don't disappoint me

I smirk at them, and they just did a Salute.

Y/n: Look, it's a guy trying to climb down

They turned around and ran towards the guy.

Y/n: Hey, what are you doing?

Guy: For an expert rock climber like me, this gonna be a piece of cake!

Killua: Oh, wow!

Gon: Look at how fast he's going!

We all heard a strange thudding and saw some monster.

Guy: No, stop...go away!!

I tried holding my laugh.

The strange creature and fly away.

Guy: Help me!!!

Leorio: Uh, so I guess we can't climb down...not this way, at least

I turn around and saw a guy following down underneath the tower.

Y/n: I will be right back

Kurapika: Okay

I saw some people went inside the stone, so I tried to figure out how to flip one over.

Y/n: Ugh, it's no use

I stomp on the stone and it's flip-down

Y/n: AAHHA!!

I lead on my feet and look around

???: Well, well, look who we have here~

I turn around and saw Hisoka.

Y/n: Really...I get stuck with a clown.

He just grinned

Y/n: Look at this... the two who drop into this chamber must find their way down together by holding hands

Hisoka: Well~

Y/n: Wait two?!? So does that mean-

Speaker: Correct, my name is Lippo! I'm the prison warden here, not to mention your examiner for the Third Phase of the Exam!

Y/n: So you telling me I have to hold hands with him?!?

Lippo: Yes, and the one y'all chooses is the path of romance

I twitch my eyes

Y/n: Is there another way?

Lippo: No, if you want to pass, I'm sure of you to hold hands all time until you both reach the end! That's it. Best of luck to you guys!

Y/n: Oh god...

I grab Hisoka's hand.

Hisoka: There a door, right over there~

He points to the right side.

Y/n: Why your nails so long...It would be best if you cut them.

Hisoka: No~

I chuckled

Hisoka: At this door, select O to open, X not to open

Y/n: O duh

We select O, and the door opens.

???: Welcome, my name Susan! This is a love path. You need to say three things you love about your partner...starting with you the one with the paints on your face.

Hisoka took a long look at me then smile.
