Check gauge light

Check gauge light DEFAULT

check gages light comes off & on. nothing listed about it in Chilton manual. suggestions?

In general, what causes check gage light to go off, low fuel in fuel tank, low oil pressure, engine coolant temperature overheating, or battery/alternator putting out too low or too high of a voltage. Your vehicle's owner's manual usually describes what would cause a check gages light to go off, that would be the first place to check. Here are my possible guesses as to what could be going on: So common sense states, make sure the fuel tank has enough fuel, engine oil level is full and that the engine oil is cirulating, make sure engine coolant in radiator and/or overflow tank is full. If possible, making sure the drive belts are in good condition and proper belt tension to turn the water pump and the alternator. Other possibility could be loose wire connection at the gauges and/or bulb connection that lights check gages. For instance, loose connection at fuel level sender, engine coolant temperature and/or engine oil pressure sender. Make sure the sender units are accurate in addition make sure the gages are working accurately as well. Also make sure the voltage regulator on the alternator works. You can take your alternator to an auto parts store that can test your alternator for no charge, i.e. Pep Boys, Auto Zone or Advanced Auto. This may seem confusing, hopefully this will give you a good place to start

Also, what to do when your car says check gauges?

Pull over to a safe spot, well lit at night, and look over the dashboard gauges. One of the other gauge lights should be lit. That will be what the Check Gauge light was warning you about. It could be as simple as you are running out of gas or as serious as your engine is having problems.

Also, what does check gauges light mean in a Jeep? The "Check Gauges" light means just that. Look at all the gauges while engine is running and see which one is not in it's normal range. Gas gauge doesn't matter. I suspect it is the oil pressure gauge is trying to tell you something, especially if you say there is a rattle when you drive (engine clatter).

What are car gauges?

All modern cars and trucks have gages and lights to warn the driver of problems and give them information on things like fuel level and speed. Some vehicles have only gages. On some the only gage is the speedometer and fuel gage. The rest are lights.

What Does It Mean When Your Car Has the "check Gauges" Light On?

The check gauges light on a vehicle indicates that a malfunction has occurred and the vehicle needs to be inspected, serviced or repaired. A check engine or check gauges light can indicate a loose fuel cap, low engine oil, an overheated engine temperature or a malfunction in the engine or electrical system.

Various types of gauge lights can indicate the specific problem within a vehicle. For example, a general or direct light can indicate the temperature of the vehicle or the oil pressure. Check engine gauges may be a little more vague, and vehicle owners may have to have a professional mechanic diagnose the problem. The vehicle malfunction may be within the gauge sensor, or the sensor may be indicating a problem with the emissions system, the engine's performance or worn coils within the vehicle's operating system. A more costly problem is present when the gauge light indicates a problem with the electrical system of the vehicle. In most vehicles, the gauge system that triggers the warning light is connected to the vehicle part it measures, such as the oil pressure or temperature components. All gauges have a line or metal tube running to the vehicle parts or engine to ensure that the vehicle is running properly.

Q: My check gage light turns on and now my check engine is turning on as well. What can be the issue?

on November 19,

My check gage light turns on. Now my service engine light is one. I had a mechanic turn run the scanner on the truck and nothing seemed wrong. I left the truck where i was stranded and went back after a couple of hoursturned it on and it turned on like if nothing was ever wrong with it. Im wondering what can be the issue with it?

My car has miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello. Are the warning lights turning off and on? This may be a sign that the issue is intermittently showing itself and the scan may have done when the code wasn’t triggered. The computer is constantly running tests and can reset the light on its own. Not every scan tool is created equal with the same technology. You may want to try and have the vehicle rescanned by a different technician with a different scan tool. Without knowing what symptoms the car is having its almost impossible to say what system is being effected. If the check gauge light is also on it’s likely fuel, coolant, oil, or battery issues. Start by having the vehicle rescanned and look further into diagnosing whatever symptoms you are experiencing.

Simply so, what does it mean when your car says check gages?

Usually when the Check Gauges light illuminates it is due to one of the gauges going out of range, such as your electrical system, low engine oil or other type of fluids being monitored through the gauges.

Subsequently, question is, what does check gages light mean on a Dodge Durango? The check gages light comes on when i step on the breaksCheck your battery voltage and your alternator output. When you step on the brakes, your foot is off the gas and the brake lights turn on. That drops the voltage and causes one or more of your gauges to go out of range and light the "Check Gauges" warning.
